Home
I began making my own miniatures furniture by the age of thirteen. Since then I have evolved my techniques and continue to do so. I mainly work with thick card but also a bit of balsawood. I do not make wooden furniture, yet. Maybe one day I will learn the techniques of woodcarving etc. But for now itīs easier for me to work with the card. I am also very interested in the history of periodical styles and till now it has been the Victorian era as well as a bit of Art Deco that has inspired me when making miniatures. I am certainly also going to make other periodical styles in time, perhaps Art Nouveau, "Danish peasant-style" of mid-19th century or maybe even an Egyptian theme? We'll see... I am currently working on two dolls houses, decorating the interior in a late Victorian-style (ca.1880's-1890's), in my largest 12-room dolls house and the other in a late 1920's Art Deco-style. -The small dolls house is actually a "boutique" that sells exclusive evening wear for women. The large Victorian house is an "upper-middleclass" family home, with servants and filled with lots of knick-knack. Some of the late Victorian furniture in my dolls house, is also featured in the gallery. I have made this website for my miniatures to show other "miniaturists" what I've made and to hopefully delight and inspire people who enjoys miniatures. Particularly those who appreciate handmade miniatures and the amount of work and time put into each little piece. Many people seem to forget the effort behind a miniature-product when they see the price. But it would probably cost twice as much or more, should you pay per hour spend making it! Buying handmade miniatures means making an investment or getting something unique that no one else has got and you can spend hours admiring it again and again, thinking, how did they make it, it's amazing! Because I make miniatures myself, it has made me appreciate the work of other "miniature-artists" much more and I love surfing the internet to see what other "artists" are up to, and to get inspired by their work and love for the world of miniatures. I hope you will enjoy my miniatures as much as I have enjoyed making them. Should you have any questions, you are most welcome to contact me. Vicky Kleist, Denmark.
